Advent keeps asbestos identification simple: we coordinate your samples through independent laboratories accredited under NIST’s NVLAP program, using established analytical protocols, proficiency testing, and documented quality controls—so your results are defensible, repeatable, and practical for real-world decisions.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is the U.S. standards authority that advances measurement science and publishes the frameworks that laboratories use to produce reliable, comparable results.
NVLAP is NIST’s third-party accreditation program. NVLAP-accredited labs are evaluated against strict technical requirements (including ISO/IEC 17025), ongoing proficiency testing, documented methods, and audited quality systems—so your asbestos results aren’t “just an opinion,” they’re quality-controlled data.
Accreditation isn’t just “nice to have.” Certain regulated programs (for example, the EPA’s school requirements under AHERA) require analysis by labs accredited under NIST’s NVLAP program. Colorado regulators also emphasize that suspect materials should be tested by an accredited laboratory for dependable identification.
Prefer to verify the accreditation framework yourself? NVLAP (NIST) | AHERA lab requirement (40 CFR 763.87)
Note: Advent coordinates independent laboratory analysis; analytical results are issued by the laboratory as part of your project documentation.

Every asbestos inspection we perform includes a detailed, written report prepared by a CDPHE-certified asbestos consulting firm. Our reports are legally valid, permit-ready, comply with EPA/CDPHE regulations and are accepted by building officials. In fact, any report issued by someone who is not a certified asbestos consulting firm is considered null and void by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
